The Fly Edition of Paris 1963 / Paris 1965 includes includes a 12.5″ x 11 silver gelatin print of “Dior Wings.”
This beautiful rendering of Sokolsky’s iconic Dior image was the original selection for the Harper’s Bazaar March 1965 Paris Collections issue, but the negative was misplaced for nearly forty years. Recently found in his archive, Dior Wings represents Melvin’s vision in all its grace and glory, defying every expectation and making the viewer believe that a woman can fly.
